What am I doing?

Being raised in this beautiful bioregion of Salmon Nation, I have a deep reverence for this place. I love it. I friggin love it. I still get lost in the magic of every little organism from the coastal waters to the alpine lakes. In my eyes, all this magic can be traced back to the health of our coastal waters.

Inspired by our bioregion and the declining health of our kelp forests, I use my free time to make stuff (food, art, knick knacks, etc.) and sell it to give back to the kelp via donation to ORKA, Elakha Alliance, and other organizations who steward our coastlines.

Why is kelp so important?

Seaweed is a foundational building block to life in the ocean and on land. Seaweed developed over 1.6 billion years ago and kelp forests have been in the Pacific Northwest for over 32 million years. These forests provide safe haven for fish, marine mammals, crustaceans, birds and bivalves by providing nutrients, oxygen, and protection.

These havens not only provide sustenance to coastal peoples, but are directly related to the health of the salmon run that provides food and nutrients through the entire Salmon Nation bioregion. These kelp forests benefit coastal waters and impact our entire river network.
